Fairy House
Submission Guidelines

Explore, discover, create!

Submit a fairy house to the Waterloom Fairy Festival and it will be displayed in our Fairy Village along with your name. Parents, this is a perfect project to work on with your child. Take advantage of the opportunity to explore your yard or the woods with your child while enjoying the beauty found in nature. A fairy house builder will receive one free ticket to the festival. One free ticket per house built.

  • Fairy houses are small dwellings for little fairies. Houses can be as small as 9 to 18 inches tall. It is up to you on the size. However, for space considerations at the festival the maximum size should be no more than 36 inches by 36 inches by 36 inches tall, including the base. If you wish to go bigger, please contact us before you build so we can plan the best location for your creation.

  • Houses must be constructed of organic materials only. You may hold pieces together using hot glue and other man-made materials provided they can’t be seen.

  • Everything must be natural. No store bought fairy furniture, glitter, or other artificial elements are permitted.

  • Please don’t strip bark from living trees. Birch and other types of bark can easily be collected from fallen trees.

  • Know what you collect. Only collect items that you know are safe and are not endangered.

  • Your fairy house submission must be removed between 4:00 and 5:00 p.m. that evening after the close of the festival. Houses that have not been picked up by 5:00 will be discarded.

This is an event for children of all ages. Adults are welcome to submit houses too. Houses must be free of social or political content.
